The sunlight iluminates natural spring water in the city of a thousand fountains. The Roman settlement of Aix-en-Provence was founded in 123 BC by the Roman consul Sextius Calvinus, who gave his name  to its springs.

The Palace of 96,000 Lights (India)

The famous Palace of Mysore in Southern India is illuminated with more than 96,000 lights during the months of September and October to celebrate the Mysore Dasara festival, during which leading artists perform on a stage set up in the palace grounds. On the tenth day of the festival Vijaya Dashami there is a parade with caparisoned elephants and other floats.

A Cambodian kid from the Floating Villages (located close to the ancient Ankor city of Siem Reap) smiles over his shoulder as he steers a motorboat that cuts through the water of the mighty Mekong River. The Mekong River gives life to millions of people across South East Asia.

In this exhibition of striking photographs of women from; China, India and Bolivia, Simon Raven hopes to highlight the strength and important role women play in communities at the frontier’s of the world.

Pachamama (Mother Earth) is a goddess revered by the indigenous people of the Andes. In Inca mythology, Mama Pacha or Pachamama is a fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting. Since Pachamama is a “good mother”, people in some regions of South America usually toast her honour by spilling a small amount of alcohol on the floor, before drinking the rest.
